The story so far

The world is not what it used to be.

The Avengers were unable to stop Thanos and as a result, half the population has disappeared, powered and civilians alike. A new Mayor has stepped up to bring some order to the chaos in New York.
Blaming their lack of rule-following and refusal to follow directions, Mayor Bancroft has brought back the Sokovia Accords, forcing powered people to register or be imprisoned. Only now he’s replaced the simple security thugs of the Power Containment Unit (PCU) with military-trained troops. Those who register are allowed to join the PCU to help round up the rebels.

Heroes and villains are both in hiding, some willing to work together, some still fighting each other amongst the battles with the PCU. Even those who weren’t powered, but worked alongside them are in danger.

SHIELD is once again in pieces, as so many either disappeared during the Thanos ‘Snap’ and others quickly went into hiding.
Helping Bancroft is his new assistant, formerly of the Daily Bugle, J Jonah Jameson, who delights in spreading panic amongst the civilians.

Many heroes and those known as villains are fighting back against the PCU, protecting those less experienced and trying to locate and train those who are new to their powers before Bancroft and the PCU get their hands on them.

Meanwhile, Hydra is quietly building itself back up, unknown to anyone outside of the group...

Before Thanos's victory, Stark Tower was the last known Headquarters of the Avengers, who occupied the top floors of the place. Before that, they used the Avengers Mansion by Central Park but abandoned it after one too many attacks in favour of the high-security Tower. With so many missing and the rest being targeted by the PCU though, they figured it was safer not to remain gathered there.

Mayor Bancroft has moved his official office to the top floor of the Daily Bugle building, where he effectively has control of the media and Jameson appears all too willing to take part in the attack on powers.

Harlem and the Bronx areas are currently dangerous territory. Regular raids are done by the PCU as they attempt to weed out the Powered and their allies who hide there. While some regular citizens still live among the chaos, many have fled to live in other areas of Manhattan or moved out to other areas entirely. The streets are a mess.

Meanwhile, Ward island to the East currently houses the PCU military training grounds and houses the troops. Ryker's island holds The Raft, a maximum-security prison. It also features a 'rehabilitation center' for any heroes or villains who want to 'reform' and join the PCU.
